Alumni of HUC-JIR are encouraged to contribute to this conversation and to make suggestions for resources and topics that they feel should appear as part of our ongoing discussion.

Ruth Abusch-Magder was ordained at the New York campus of HUC-JIR in 2006 and received her doctorate from the Department of Religious Studies at Yale the same year. Her area of academic expertise is Jewish food and feminist history and she is a frequent writer and teacher about food related concerns. After ordination she spent a year in Israel as a Jerusalem Fellow at the Mandel Leadership Institute and was the Director of Continuing Alumni Education from 2007-2010. Ruth currently lives in San Francisco, CA, with her husband and two children. She is the Rabbi-in-Residence at Be’chol Lashon and a Clal Rabbi Without Borders.
